The Power of Social Networking in Achieving Top Google SEO Results

While links used to play a more important role in Google SEO, they still are very important. Using Social Networks can create a pool of very good, high quality links. We will detail a strategy to help you achieve great links and help your Google SEO Strategy.

When Search Engines began, especially Yahoo, they were nothing more than a compilation of links, which slowly grew into what is now known as the internet. As Search Engines evolved, so did their tools and abilities. Search Engines then moved to the crawler system, which as the name implies, is software driven web page scouring device, created to follow links from page to page, and web site to web site. These crawlers then added parsing features that analyzed entire pages, and websites. With the advent of Google’s PageRank algorithm, all this data was then given a numerical value and a ranking was derived.

Now you have Social Networking sites so large that they are considered secondary search engines from their sheer size. Twitter is the most powerful tool in creating a white had Google SEO link strategy, but nothing happens overnight.

The strategy is as follows. Get a twitter account with a username that relates to your site. Link it to your site, and begin following members.

Following the right Twitter members is crucial in your Google SEO link building strategy. Start by searching Twitterholic for members with the most followers, then look through their followers and begin following members whose following/followers numbers are almost even. This means that they are likely to automatically follow you if you follow them. If you get followed by someone with 5,000 followers, you then will have access to his/her 5,000 followers. You can probably begin to see the potential.

Begin by NOT sending links in your Tweets, simply talk about what you enjoy to do, preferably if it is of value to others. Over a 1 month period keep conversations interesting and keep building your Twitter network.

Twitter imposes a limit on how many people you can follow, which corresponds to 10% than your followers. So if you have 1,000 followers, you can follow 1,100 members.

Grow, grow, grow, and after about a month you can begin letting people know about your product. I prefer to use my entire web site URL rather than the shortened version available through TinyURL and such. Once your network is larger, each link potentially will reach thousands of people and Google will begin giving importance to your twitter page, which is linked to your site and most of the time it will index the links that end up on other member pages, created through your tweets.

Try it out, I guarantee you will have fun, while building your link assets.

Search Engine Marketing Consulting – 3 Tips to Help With Your Local Search Marketing

One of the biggest Search Engine Marketing Consulting tips I can give you is to number one get free traffic. The other tip I can give you is to make sure that traffic comes from a variety of sources. Without writing a manifesto, I’ll briefly go into a few various traffic sources you can tap into that will improve your search rankings.

1.) Forums – No matter what niche you are in, there is bound to be a forum related to your niche. Do a Google search for xxx forum xxx being your niche. For example if you ran an accounting company in San Diego do a search for Accounting Forums in San Diego. Once you visit the forum take a look at the number of threads and posts and make sure there’s plenty of activity going on here. No sense in posting on a dead forum.

Also make sure that you include your sig file in each forum post, but your purpose is to post as an expert and to never spam the forums. If you do they will not let your post go through on the best case scenario. On the worst case scenario they will delete your account and you’ll never be permitted to post on that particular forum again.

2.) Yahoo Answers

A link from Yahoo Answers is very valuable. Just Google in, visit their site and setup a free account. You get points for each question you answer. You get a lot more points for each answer that is chosen as a top pick for that particular question. If you post one answer per day for 90 days you are really going to get targeted traffic to your site.

3.) Craigslist Ads

If you operate a local business, try to make it a point to post a local Craigslist Ad every couple weeks or so. People locally are constantly searching for particular services that can help fulfill their needs. Craigslist is also a very high PR site and while the links don’t last unless you constantly post ads, they will help index your site very quickly and will give your website some quick PR.

Search Engine Optimization – The Best Way to Drive Traffic to Your Website

There are a number of ways to get traffic to your website. Some of these are paid (such as PPC, advertising, etc.), while others are free (Twitter, SEO, Facebook Marketing). Of these, one of the most cost effective ways to drive traffic is SEO. SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It is a method via which you can rank high on major search engines such as Google, Yahoo and Bing and get traffic when someone searches for your ranked keyword.

Suppose you have a website on Organic Food. If you rank on page #1 on Google for the keyword “organic food”, you can receive a huge amount of traffic whenever someone searches for ‘organic food’ on Google. This traffic is absolutely free and of a very high quality.

The benefits of SEO are many. For one, it is completely free. Paid sources such as PPC can quickly burn a hole in your pocket. SEO, however, is absolutely free in terms of cost. The only thing you have to do is to put in the effort to rank high on Google and other search engines.

The other big benefit is the quality of the traffic. Many people who advertise on Facebook, Twitter, or other such ‘social media’ sites like YouTube, MySpace, etc. have observed that the quality of the traffic is significantly lower than what they get from Google or other search engines. This means that people who visit you through search engines are much more likely to buy something from you as compared to people who visit through social networking sites. Thus, SEO traffic is much more valuable as compared to other traffic sources.

Finally, SEO provides passive and long term traffic. With PPC, the traffic lasts only as long as you are advertising. With SEO, however, you’ll get traffic as long as you rank high on Google. If you put in even a little bit of effort on your site every month, you can rank high for months, if not years. This is completely hands-off, passive traffic that you can easily exploit.

So, are you convinced that SEO is the best way to drive traffic?

Search Engines Made Easy

The search engine buzz

The buzz today is all about internet search engines and the reason has to do with the service they provide. If you are like me, you can recall having to drive down to your local library and look up information on Micro-fiche or encyclopedias or go down into what the library used to call the stacks. Those times are gone now that search engines are on the scene.

Who are the major internet search engines?

There are really two major players in the internet search engine space but there are dozens more. The first is Google and the second is Overture. You’ve probably heard of Google before but Overture is not such a common household name. Google serves as an end user tool while Overture powers the searches of companies like Yahoo and others.

The behemoth known as Google

Google, believe it or not, got its start out of Stanford University where two students worked together on their Doctoral degrees to identify a way to use the bibliography approach used in thesis writing and apply it to the web. The thought was that a website was important based on who was linking to it as the more people linking to that site meant that the site was an important site. This whole approach was patented and believe it or not that patent moves back over to Stanford University in 2009 and they will be able to license it out at will. The question will be whether other internet search engines will vie for it or whether the technology will be too out of date by then. Neither of the students received their PHDs by the way.

Who’s the second largest internet search engine?

Overture came about in a completely different way. It came out of what was called the idea labs, an entrepreneurial venture designed to develop new businesses and then get them kicked off with funding from investment folks. From the start, they mixed in paid sponsored links along with the organic only links that other search engines utilize. They would have been more successful had they not been sold from company to company while the G-men from Stanford were able to lock up the market.

Where do all search engines go from here?

The internet is a dynamic environment and internet search engines are no different. So much money and resources are behind the major companies that they will be developing new products and new ways to deliver them. All search engines are not made equal obvious by the fact that the majority of people go to Google.com to conduct a search. However, over time, I believe that as computing power accelerates then it is only a matter of time before all search engines become roughly equal. It is only a question of when that will be. It won’t be a year but it could be five or ten. Mark my words.
